Statement on Two COVID-19 Cases at YWCA Kaua’i Family Violence Shelter

YWCA Kaua’i prioritizes the health and safety of the community we serve and of the staff dedicated to providing services which assist thousands of individuals every year.  Throughout the pandemic, the YWCA implemented a robust safety plan to reduce the risk of COVID-19 at all facilities.  Unfortunately, two staff members were recently confirmed positive.  The agency has worked closely with the Department of Health and has followed all recommendations for additional testing of individuals who may have been at risk of exposure. There are no additional COVID-19 cases and all facilities and programs continue to be available for those being impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault.

The YWCA extends a huge mahalo to the Department of Health staff who continue to work tirelessly to keep our island healthy and safe.  Their professionalism, dedication, and spirit of aloha is another example of how fortunate our community is during this challenging time.
